Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy has last been updated on May 29, 2018.

Who we are

MonicaNDesign is a WordPress & Coppermine themes and plugins store, which means we build web software that people can use to power their websites. Our themes are pre-made templates that change how the website looks, while the plugins add functionality of some kind. Our website address is: https://monicandesign.com.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and we created this Privacy Policy to inform you of how your personal data will (and will not) be used by us. By using our website, you indicate that you read and you agree with our Privacy Policy below.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

When you use our contact form we collect your name, email address and other info you may provide in your message. We use these details to respond to the feedback/query you send us. The information you submit through the contact form will not be used for marketing purposes.

Cookies

To improve your experience on our site, we may use ‘cookies’. A cookie is a small text file that our site may place on your computer as a tool to remember your preferences. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use the metrics tools provided by our hosting account’s cPanel as our analytics package. When visiting monicandesign.com, the IP address used to access the site will be logged along with the dates and times of access.

This information is purely used to analyze trends, administer the site, track users movement and gather broad demographic information for internal use. Most importantly, any recorded IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Store

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, email address and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your orders.

Handling this data also allows us to:
– Send you important account/order/service information.
– Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
– Process payments and to prevent fraudulent transactions. We do this on the basis of our legitimate business interests.
– Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.

Additionally we may also collect the following information:
– Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order.
– Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active.
– Your product reviews if you choose to leave them on our store.
– Account email/password to allow you to access your account, if you have one.
– If you choose to create an account with us, your name and email address, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

Product demos

Our products usually have a website demo assigned. The current privacy policy applies, except no personal data is used.

We store data via contact forms, comments but we never use them. Product demo websites have no real purpose other than introducing a product’s design and/or functionality. We assume you are only testing the functionality of that specific product while submitting the forms thus we never use your data in response. However, you can of course exercise your GDPR rights.

Who we share your data with

When you purchase a product on monicandesign.com, your personal data is shared with the well know payment company PayPal. You can check their privacy policy here: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.

When you start a purchase at monicandesign.com and type in your email address, your personal data is shared with Jilt, a cart recovery service. Their privacy policy can be seen here: https://jilt.com/legal/privacy-notice-for-visitors-to-our-users-stores/.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We keep contact form submissions for 4 months for customer service purposes. Also, our analytics records are cleared after 1 year.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or purchased a product you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Comments are checked through the Akismet anti-spam service. The data it collects includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other info directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself). Check out Akismet’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy-notice/.
